Caleb Love makes decision on future prior to NBA Draft withdraw deadline
Former UNC basketball standout Caleb Love went through the NBA Draft process, and just hours before the deadline to withdrawl and return to the college ranks, the former Tar Heel did just that.
In the video above, Love announced that he will return to Arizona for his fifth season of college eligibility. Love, the reigning Pac-12 Player of the Year, will now look to lead the Wildcats as they transition into the Big-12 for the 2024-2025 season.
Although Love put together an outstanding first season at Arizona, it was expected that he would go through the draft process and ultimately return. Especially with the new world of NIL, returning to the college ranks makes sense for some players, whether its for developmental purposes or financial reasons.
In Love's case, this decision makes a ton of sense. As one of college basketball's biggest stars, Love will once again benefit from the NIL world while also having the opportunity to be a key contributor on a Wildcats team that can be among one of the nation's best once again.
Sure, every player dreams of competing in the NBA, and Love can re-evaluate that option after one more season in college. In the meantime, he'll have the opportunity to continue improving his game in hopes of improving his draft stock a year from now.
Although it wasn't in the cards last season, maybe Love will have the opportunity to take the court against the UNC basketball program this go around.
I'm sure Tar Heel fans would Love to see that happen.
