Was his official visit to North Carolina enough to keep the UNC basketball program alive?

Turn up the heat on Braylon Mullins' recruitment!

The five-star guard recently visited the UNC basketball program and made some other moves in his recruitment, including cancelling a planned official visit to Duke.

While the rumor was that Mullins was going to narrow his recruitment down to five schools this week, he did cut his list, but only three remain.

Indiana, North Carolina and UConn are the teams that still remain in Mullins' recruitment, as he has elected to remove some notable schools from the mix, including Michigan and Kentucky. Mullins had an official visit scheduled to Kentucky, but it appears that it now won't be happening.

Based on what has been reported, it seems as if Mullins' visit to North Carolina went well. He broke down his visit with Jake Weingarten of Stock Risers and had this to say about the Tar Heels:

“It was good. I loved the campus and coaching staff. Coach Davis loves the way I fit into his offense. Also pitched that I can play and work for a starting spot as a freshman.”

While it won't be easy to beat the hometown team (Indiana) and defending national champions (UConn) in this recruiting battle, the UNC basketball program seems to be in a really good spot here. While he aims to make a final decision before the end of October, it's good to see that Mullins' recruitment really started to heat up following his trip to Chapel Hill.

Who knows: maybe his visit was enough to show him that North Carolina is the right school for him moving forward.
