Armando Bacot participates in a pre-draft workout with a Western Conference team
Armando Bacot built a tremendous legacy as a member of the UNC basketball program. Now, he is on a mission to find himself a NBA home.
With the NBA Draft just a few weeks away, teams are bringing in some top-tier talent that they have interest in taking a closer look at. The Los Angeles Lakers held a pre-draft workout on Monday, as Bacot was one of the players who participated.
According to Adam Zagoria, Bacot was one of four mentioned players to participate in the workout, as he was joined by RayJ Dennis (Baylor), David Jones (Memphis) and Tyler Thomas (Hofstra). Based on mock drafts that have circulated, all four players seem to be on the outside looking in as they make their respective case to be drafted.
Bacot put together a career to remember as a member of the UNC basketball program, as he closed out his tenure as the school's all-time leading rebounder and double-doubles king. Sure, Bacot had an extra season to work with, but let's not forget: the big man set multiple records before his true senior season came to a close.
As dominant as he was at the college ranks, there is questions as to whether he fits at the next level. The Richmond, Virginia native has worked on improving his game in all aspects, including shooting from outside of the paint area, as he hopes to showcase his improved skills to scouts and front office executives across the league.
The Lakers hold the No. 55 pick in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft, as maybe that's a spot where the historic franchise elects to take a chance on Bacot. If not the Lakers, it's possible that another team comes calling to see if Bacot can find a permanent home on their roster for the foreseeable future.
