Conner Harrell will have a calmer night in the pocket

Conner Harrell didn't always look comfortable in the pocket. In the UNC football program's first drive, Harrell threw an incomplete pass to Christian Hamilton on second down, then ate a pretty nasty sack on 3rd & 12 for a 12-yard loss and an early three-and-out. He steadied the ship but didn't exactly stir the echoes of Sam Howell and Drake Maye.

Now that he has a win and a few touchdowns in his back pocket, it's time for him to get comfy directing the offense. It remains to be seen if he'll have Omarion Hampton and Bryson Nesbit at his disposal. They could be held out as a precaution, and honestly, North Carolina has enough weapons to beat NC Central without them.

If Harrell can beat up on the Eagles with his arm rather than his legs, he'll set himself up for future success. He needs to start developing some chemistry with his receiving corps. Even though he spread the ball to nine receivers, the highest catch total was three for Nesbit (who grabbed Harrell's first touchdown pass) and three for Caleb Hood out of the backfield.

North Carolina must establish more downfield threat. If not, the Tar Heels risk crowding the line of scrimmage for its stellar running backs.
