Bryson Nesbit set a new UNC football record in the victory over Charlotte
By JT Zangara
Bryson Nesbit has passed former teammate Kamari Morales as the UNC football program's new all-time touchdowns leader by a tight end.
The 6-foot-5 senior scored his 11th career touchdown in Week 2 vs Charlotte to break the record. Nesbit caught a 30-yard pass in the 1st quarter from Conner Harrell to put the Tar Heels up 7-0 early. Unfortunately, Nesbit had to leave the game early due to an upper-body injury during the first half but finished the day with three catches for 47 yards and the recording-breaking touchdown.
Nesbit has been a significant part of the Tar Heels offense for the past four years. He has hauled in touchdown passes mostly from Drake Maye (9) but also has connected with both Conner Harrell (1), and Jacolby Criswell (1) for scores as well.
During the 2023 season, Nesbit set career highs in catches, yards, and touchdowns. Now, he is forming a new connection with Harrell, who made his first regular-season start on Saturday, as it didn't take long for the duo to find the endzone in their first game action working together.
In his career, Nesbit has totaled 88 catches, 1,308 yards, and 11 touchdowns. As he continues his senior season, Nesbit will have more time to climb up the UNC football program's all-time receiving list. Currently, Nesbit is just outside the top 20 all-time in receiving touchdowns, but that can certainly change that as the 2024 season rolls along.
