Drake Maye is heading to the NFL, which means that there will be a new starting quarterback for the UNC football program in 2024.

Mack Brown and his staff have brought in a veteran transfer in Max Johnson to compete for the job, as the group currently in Chapel Hill doesn't possess much experience. It's not a knack on them at all, given they've sat behind one of the best quarterbacks the program has ever had over the last two seasons.

Of the remaining quarterbacks. Conner Harrell has the most promise, as we saw some glimpses of what he can bring to the table when he relieved Maye in the Tar Heels victory over Campbell on November 4. Not only can Harrell sling it, but he can run as well, as his speed might be a very lethal weapon for Chip Lindsey to work with.

Before the official quarterback competition gets underway this spring, Harrell can prove that he deserves the first crack at the job with a strong performance against West Virginia.
