There isn't much love for the Atlantic Coast Conference in our first College Football Playoff rankings for the 2024 season.

The new format for the College Football Playoff gives us all a lot to discuss!

In case you're unfamiliar: the NCAA has expanded the college football playoffs to 12 teams, as there is much more room to work with than the old-styled four-team setup.

Here's some other important information to know:

Each Power Four conference champion will receive an automatic bid among the top four rankings. The top group of five champion will be the fifth team to qualify automatically, while the remaining seeds will earn spots via at-large bids.

When the competition gets underway, the top four seeds will get a 'bye.' The remaining seeds will compete against each other in first-round matchups, as the higher seed will be the host team.

With all that being said, we finally have some actual football to discuss! Week one action is officially in the books, as it's time to reveal our first College Football Playoff rankings prediction.

There's no denying that Georgia deserves the No. 1 overall spot, especially after handling business against No. 14-ranked Clemson in their season opener. Miami put together a very impressive performance against the Florida Gators, as I'm very impressed with what Cam Ward and company were able to do at the Swamp.

While our sole purpose is to focus on an ACC school (North Carolina), you'll be disappointed to know that the conference isn't well-represented. After week one action, the conference has a lot of catching up to do in terms of the College Football Playoffs, as Florida State's 0-2 start combined with Clemson's awful performance against the Bulldogs didn't help the conference's case.

There are some big games on the slate this upcoming weekend, as it's certain that our rankings next week will look rather different. The main question will be whether or not the UNC football program can crack the Top 25 at some point, potentially making a run towards a College Football Playoff bid?
