2024 Week Four 12-team College Football Playoff rankings prediction
Another week, another 12-team College Football Playoff prediction!
Honestly, this week of college football was rather boring. Other than the UNC football program allowing 70 points in a loss to JMU, most of the top-ranked teams in the country handled their opponents easily.
Shoutout to Tennessee for going on the road and defeating Oklahoma, and kudos to Utah for storming back to defeat Oklahoma State.
While Texas is starting to make a very legitimate case for the No. 1 overall spot, I still can't take the Georgia Bulldogs off the top of the podium until someone defeats them. Unless they continue to win ugly (like they did against Kentucky), the Bulldogs are still my top-ranked team, but don't sleep on the Longhorns, they are coming!
Here's our Week 4 12-team College Football Playoff predictions following this week's action:
Rank | Team | Why are they here | Previous Rank |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Georgia Bulldogs | SEC Champion | 1 |
2 | Miami Hurricanes | ACC Champion | 2 |
3 | Ohio State Buckeyes | Big Ten Champion | 3 |
4 | Utah Utes | Big 12 Champion | 4 |
5 | Texas Longhorns | At- Large | 5 |
6 | Tennessee Volunteers | At-Large | 7 |
7 | Alabama Crimson Tide | At-Large | 6 |
8 | Ole Miss Rebels | At-Large | 8 |
9 | Missouri Tigers | At-Large | 10 |
10 | Oregon Ducks | At-Large | 9 |
11 | Penn State | At-Large | NR |
12 | UNLV Rebels | MW Champion | 12 |
The only change is that Penn State jumped into the rankings. They replace Oklahoma State, who lost to Utah this weekend. It was tough for me to drop the Cowboys out of the rankings (especially because they lost to a very good team), but I felt that teams that lose early in the season need to work their way back into the mix.
Don't worry, there's plenty of time for Oklahoma State to climb right back in!
While I'd love my predictions to be right on par with what the current situation is, I also LOVE upsets! Maybe we'll see some underdogs pull off some major upsets (Kentucky plays Ole Miss, a game that could be interesting given how the Wildcats competed against Georgia).
Speaking of the Bulldogs, they have a MAJOR test in Tuscaloosa this weekend as they'll battle the Alabama Crimson Tide. The good news is that at least one team in this week's rankings will lose, which should cause some major shakeups heading into next week.
