Following an embarrassing loss to TCU in his head coaching debut with the UNC football program, Bill Belichick went to the mic to speak to the media.
While everyone hoped that Belichick would provide some type of substance with his responses, the long-time head coach did what he normally does: gave us absolutely nothing.
For example, here's some responses that he had for some of the questions he was asked:
How much teaching can you do from this game (given the short week)
“Yeah, well, we’ll use the time best we can to, like I said, correct the mistakes from tonight and move on, and then get ready for Charlotte. So we’ve got a couple extra days here, and they came off a disappointing game themselves, so we’re both a little bit in the same boat here. But, yeah, we got a lot of work to do.”
On if he was surprised how things snowballed
“We’ll just keep working and keep grinding away. We’re better than what we were tonight, but we have to go out there and show that, improve it. So nobody’s going to do it for us. We’ll have to do it ourselves, and that’s what we’re going to do.”
His post game message to the team
“I’ll keep my comments to the team private — between myself and the team. But obviously we have a lot of work to do, that we need to do, and we need to get to it. And that’s a long and short of it.”
What message does he want to send to the fans
“Just what I been saying. We’re going to get back to work, and we’re going to get better.”
Belichick has a knack for providing nothing using different phrases.
Let's face facts: no one expected Belichick to go up to the podium and rip his team (and staff) for the abysmal performance). However, we definitely would've liked to have had some more substantial answers breaking down some of the things that went wrong.
Unfortunately, Belichick isn't that guy, as his press conferences won't tell you much about his team.
