One of the nation's top playmakers is set to visit North Carolina

Looking to add more skill players, the UNC football program is wasting no time bringing in this Liberty standout for a visit to Chapel Hill.

You can never have too many playmakers.

Bill Belichick and the UNC football program are well-aware of that notion, understanding how the offensive unit (in particular) needs some more guys who can make things happen with the football in their hands.

With this in mind, the Tar Heels are wasting no time on the transfer portal market, as they are slated to host Liberty running back Evan Dickens for a visit.

According to 247Sports Transfer Portal, Dickens has set two visits thus far. He will visit North Carolina on Friday before heading to Boston College on January 4.

The hope for the Tar Heels is that his visit to Chapel Hill is more than enough to help make up his mind, making Sunday's visit (and any others he was contemplating) pointless.

More on Evan Dickens

After transferring from Georgia Tech to Liberty, Dickens became one of the best playmakers in the country. Across 11 games, Dickens ranked fifth in the nation with his 1,339 rushing yards, scoring 16 touchdowns. The change of scenery was great for Dickens, who was used sparingly on the offense (and on special teams) during his time with the Yellow Jackets.

The state of the UNC football's running back depth chart

Last season, the UNC football program didn't have a single running back run for over 500 yards. This is a very rare occasion in Chapel Hill, considering the great running backs who have graced the program over the previous seasons.

The good news is that Demon June, coming off a promising rookie season, has re-upped for his sophomore season. The bad news is that the rest of the depth chart is a major question mark, considering the exhaustion of eligibility for some and some notable transfers (including Davion Gause).

Dickens would serve as a great complement to June, as the duo can help reshape the UNC football program's rushing attack for 2026 and beyond.
