Add another defensive standout to the UNC football program's 2026 recruiting class.
The latest commitment comes from Jamarrion Gordon, a four-star safety from Jackson, Alabama. Gordon, who formerly was committed to Alabama, chose the Tar Heels over his other finalists: Florida, Florida State, and Ole Miss.

The six-foot, 185-pound safety becomes the third four-star commitment that the UNC football program has secured from the Class of 2026. Currently, Gordon is viewed as the No. 17-ranked prospect from the state of Alabama, and comes in as the No, 39 overall safety prospect that his graduating class has to offer.
Gordon made two official visits to Chapel Hill, one which occurred just a few days ago. His second visit to campus seems to have sealed the deal, giving the Tar Heels yet another defensive standout to add to this upcoming recruiting class.
The addition of Gordon places the UNC football program's 2026 recruiting class in the top 20 of 247Sports' 2026 Team Rankings. With Gordon's commitment, North Carolina currently has 23 players pledged to the program from this recruiting class.
A two-way star at the high school level, Gordon will likely focus on playing safety once he arrives on campus. Given the UNC football program's desire to improve on the defensive side of the football, adding a player of Gordon's caliber could certainly help make that goal happen, as Bill Belichick and his staff understand the importance of bolstering the roster, especially on the side that Belichick emphasized throughout his Hall of Fame coaching career in the National Football League.
