It was supposed to be a stellar rookie season for former North Carolina football standout Omarion Hamption. However, a serious ankle injury has forced him to miss the majority of the 2025 campaign. While there was hope he'd get back on the field this weekend, it's not going to happen.
On Friday afternoon, news broke via Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh that while Hampton was able to make some progress out on the practice field with LA, the team is going to play things safe and not rush him back. That's right, the Chargers have ruled him out to take on the Raiders:

“It was a good week,” Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh told reporters today. “Really beneficial, ramping up. Everything’s on track to return, not this…
Omarion Hampton Fantasy Update: Star Chargers RB ruled out for Sunday
Hampton hurt his ankle in Week 5 and he just hasn't been able to get healthy enough to suit up again just yet. Originally, the first-round pick started to show some promise earlier this year and it looked like he was starting to figure things out with the LA offense.
Then, his injury was much more serious than anyone could have imagined. It wasn't an ankle sprain, as it was also revealed that he actually was dealing with a fracture. Because of this, it looks like the Chargers want to be extra careful with the speedster before giving him a full workload.
This is also some rough news for all of you Fantasy Football players too, as Hampton was no question a high pick in drafts and with the Raiders up next, it could have been a great matchup for the young RB to have a strong game and put plenty of points on the board.
Instead, Hampton is going to give his ankle another rest, with the plan for him to put on the pads next weekend. Hampton is a stud with the ball in his hands, but the Chargers would rather let him get closer to 100 percent than to bring him back too soon against Las Vegas. This is probably the right call from Harbaugh and his coaches.
