After being selected by the Los Angeles Chargers with the No. 22 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, former UNC football star Omarion Hampton has agreed to his first professional contract.

The former Tar Heel signed a four-year, $17.77 million dollar contract, one that includes a signing bonus of $9.56 million. NFL Insider Jordan Schultz was the first to report the terms of the deal.

Hampton seems like the perfect fit with the Chargers organization. He is being added to an offense that takes pride in running the football, as his new head coach, Jim Harbaugh, has made it a concerted effort during his coaching career to run the rock.

Given what we know about Omarion Hampton, he is more than capable of being a three-down back, especially given his size and athleticism.

The good news is that Hampton's contract situation didn't take long to figure out. While some of the items (such as the overall structure, length, and salary) are primarily dictated by the league's collective bargaining agreement as well as the player's draft slot, some times we see draft picks come to terms on a deal with their new team for various reasons.

For Hampton, it seemed to be an easy process, as now the attention can solely be focused his work on the field as he prepares for his rookie season in the NFL.
