Of course a Duke legend wasn't happy live on ESPN that North Carolina is dancing

Can't say we're shocked by this.

Everyone was holding their breath on Sunday night, but hey, the North Carolina Tar Heels are dancing. UNC was worried it'd be left out of the 2025 NCAA Tournament, but from our chair, the committee made the right call to include Hubert Davis and Co. Forget what the haters are saying.

We don't have to tell you that countless people are upset that North Carolina was able to sneak in. The long list of people includes analyst Jay Williams, a former standout guard for the Duke Blue Devils. While going over the bracket on ESPN, Williams didn't hold back in saying West Virginia deserved a spot over the Heels:

Jay Williams was not happy that North Carolina got a tourney spot over West Virginia

" To me guys, that's my biggest takeaway from this whole thing - it's North Carolina," Williams said. "I don't know how they made the tournament and West Virginia didn't make the tournament. North Carolina had 11 opportunities to play against teams in the field and they only won one of those on a neutral court in December. They have four losses to teams that didn't make the tournament."

Tell us how you really feel, Jay. Everyone is bringing up the lack of quad 1 wins for the Tar Heels. Hey, we get it. However, this team won eight of its last 10 games to close out the season/ACC Tournament, with both losses coming to Duke, one of the top teams in the country.

People are going to keep arguing that North Carolina is only in the Big Dance because of its brand and that Bubba Cummingham is a committee chair. However, we can't overlook the fact that the Tar Heels are playing their best basketball of the season at the right time.

Come Tuesday, UNC is going to hope to make a statement by taking care of business against San Diego State. Should a loss be posted, however, people will be ready to keep bashing the committee for including them in the field in the first place. Williams might be ready for more strong words too.
