Size has been at the forefront of the recruiting efforts for Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program.
Whether it's via the transfer portal or through high school recruiting, the Tar Heels are making a conservative effort to avoid having the same issue they had a season ago, essentially playing most of the starting unit out of position.
As much as we enjoyed watching Seth Trimble locking down 6-foot-10 dudes in the post, we'd much rather have the Tar Heels' roster featuring length and athleticism throughout.
The top big man in the Class of 2027, Obinna Ekezie Jr., has drawn a lot of attention heading into his junior season of high school. Ekezie Jr., the son of former Maryland star Obinna Ekezie, has transferred from Napa (California) Prolific Prep to Orlando (Fla.) Southeastern Prep ahead of this season, a move that hasn't stopped college coaches from following his development.
Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program have been lurking in this particular recruitment and have now made their interest known by extending an offer to Obinna Ekezie Jr.
Blessed to receive an offer from the University of North Carolina. Very thankful for this opportunity 🙏 pic.twitter.com/iCAivLzAWx

Currently, the 7-foot, 220-pound big man is considered a top-five prospect within his graduating class. A five-star talent, 247Sports Composite ranks him as the No. 3 overall player in the Class of 2027 as well as the top center that the group has to offer.
The state of Florida is absolutely crushing it in terms of 2027 talent, as the top three ranked players in this class all currently reside within the state lines.
North Carolina has already extended an offer to CJ Rosser, a 6-foot-9 forward who ranks second overall in the country. Both offers go to show that as much as the Tar Heels would like to add veteran size through the transfer portal, they just as badly want to lure in elite big men to develop into the next front court stars to wear the Carolina Blue uniform.
