The Atlantic Coast Conference announced that action has been taken against the four schools involved in on-field altercations this past weekend.

North Carolina and NC State fall into this category, as both schools were given an institutional fine and public reprimand. In the official press release, here's what the ACC had to say on the matter:

"The Atlantic Coast Conference is issuing an institutional fine and public reprimand to North Carolina and NC State for the actions of both teams following the game on November 30.

In both cases (including the Virginia/Virginia Tech pregame altercation), the actions violated the ACC Sportsmanship Policy. The unsportsmanlike behavior that was displayed is unacceptable and tarnishes the passionate on-field play between these institutions.

The funds from the imposed institutional fines – which are the maximum allowed by the league’s bylaws – will be placed into the Weaver-James-Corrigan-Swofford Postgraduate Scholarship account.

The ACC considers this matter closed and will have no further comment."

I think it's safe to say that we all expected some action from the ACC, as fighting in any situation is a terrible look for the NCAA and college athletics. Rivalries get heated, without a doubt, but fighting in any way, shape, or form needs to be avoided at all costs.
