North Carolina and Clemson get heated before the actual game even begins

The tensions are already high at Memorial Stadium.

It didn't take long for North Carolina and Clemson to scrap it up, as both teams have already gotten a little heated hours before the start of Saturday afternoon's ACC clash.

Two hours before the game, members of both teams were seen getting into it at midfield. Clemson, at this point, still were in their suits having just arrived at the stadium.

The exchange occurred near midfield, as UNC had a handful of players doing a pregame prayer. This is a common trend for the Tar Heels, who do this before both home and away games.

Clemson was arriving and words were exchanged for about a minute or so before the teams were separated. No punches were thrown and no penalties were assessed.

Of course, things didn't stop there, as tempers flared once again a short while later.

If pregame is any indication, Saturday afternoon's game is bound to be a chippy one. North Carolina is looking to win at Memorial Stadium for the first time since 2001 and are looking to avenge last season's 38-10 beatdown by the Tigers. Both programs are founding members of the Atlantic Coast Conference and have been long-time foes, as the history between these two teams has plenty behind it.

Unfortunately for North Carolina, Clemson has owned the head-to-head for quite some time.

Hopefully, the tensions will calm down before kickoff, allowing UNC to keep the main thing the main thing. You don't need players going overboard, leading to penalties that could hurt the team. While neither team will back down from a challenge, you just hope that UNC can be the team who controls their temper the best when the actual game gets underway.

It's safe to say that both teams are pumped to get this game going!
