Beal ended up at the University of Florida, but it could have been different (based on his account).

Theo Pinson has a knack for bringing out the behind the scenes type of recruiting stories.

The former UNC basketball star recently had current NBA star Bradley Beal on as a guest for his podcast, Tidal League's Run Your Race. Of course, the topic of college recruiting came up, as Beal mentioned that the UNC basketball program did extend an offer his way... but... it was taken away?

Beal talked about the excitement he felt when he got the initial call from Roy Williams about his scholarship offer, but the offer changed (according to Beal) due to the commitment of then five-star P.J. Hariston.

According to Beal's recollection, Hariston made the UNC basketball program stop recruiting other players within his class, as Williams went on to call Beal to explain that their offer was now off the table.

As crazy as that already sounds that a player could pull the strings like that on a coaching staff, there's one interesting piece of information that must be discussed here.

Hariston wasn't the only player that the UNC basketball program brought in with that class.

The Tar Heels also brought in James Michael McAdoo, Desmond Hubert, Jackson Simmons and Stilman White during that recruiting cycle, so that information doesn't seem to add up.

Maybe the Tar Heels just simply decided to back out due to the size of their recruiting class?

Regardless, Beal went on to play for the University of Florida before becoming the No. 3 overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, a move that ended up working out for him in the long run.
