Michael Malone and the UNC basketball program are getting one of the nation's best prospects on campus, and the timing couldn't be much better.
Five-star Class of 2027 forward DeMarcus Henry is set to take an official visit to North Carolina this weekend, according to Rivals' Joe Tipton. The trip to Chapel Hill will be Henry's fifth official visit, as he's already visited Louisville, UConn, Arkansas, and Kentucky.

But here's what makes this particular visit so significant: Henry isn't planning to drag out his recruitment much longer.
The 6-foot-7 forward recently told Rivals that he's targeting October 30, his birthday, as his commitment date. That gives Malone and the Tar Heels a chance to make one of their final impressions on Henry before he potentially shuts down his recruitment.
This isn't just any five-star talent we're talking about. Henry is one that UNC has coveted for months.
DeMarcus Henry has been on UNC's radar for quite some time
Henry has emerged as one of the elite players in the 2027 recruiting class, ranked No. 3 overall in Rivals' Industry Ranking. Rivals ranks him even higher, No. 2 overall nationally.
Malone and his staff watched Henry during EYBL action before officially extending an offer in May. Ever since, UNC has made him a priority, and at one point, the Tar Heels were projected as one of the favorites to secure his commitment.
Henry's connection to the state of North Carolina plays a role in his interest in UNC.
Henry, a Charlotte native, has said he grew up rooting for both North Carolina and Duke, calling them his childhood "dream schools."
Now, he'll have the opportunity to experience Chapel Hill as one of the country's most coveted recruits and decide whether to suit up for one of his "dream schools" starting next season.
Michael Malone has a massive opportunity this weekend
To no surprise, there is plenty of competition for Henry's commitment.
Louisville, UConn, Arkansas, and Kentucky have already brought him to campus, while programs such as Ohio State have remained firmly involved in his recruitment.
The Buckeyes, in particular, have an interesting connection to Henry's family. His older brother, Chris Henry Jr., is a freshman wide receiver at Ohio State, while his sister, Seini Henry, plays for the Buckeyes' women's basketball program.
However, while other programs have built momentum in his recruitment, this weekend belongs to North Carolina, a visit that we didn't know for sure would even occur.
Malone and his staff will finally have the chance to show Henry everything Chapel Hill has to offer, at a crucial point in his recruitment.
Getting Henry on campus right before he plans to make his final decision seems like a strong move for the Tar Heels, who will have the final say in his recruitment. If all goes well, his visit to Chapel Hill could solidify his decision to become a Tar Heel.
Needless to say, this is an opportunity that Michael Malone and the Tar Heels can't afford to waste.
