Michael Malone and the UNC basketball program have set up quite the preseason matchup to prepare for the 2026-2027 season.

Ahead of Malone's first season at the helm at North Carolina, the Tar Heels announced that they will be making a business trip to Indiana to square off against the Hoosiers.

UNC set to battle another historic program in preseason action

The Tar Heels will travel to Gainbridge Fieldhouse on October 18 for a preseason exhibition game against the Indiana Hoosiers. Tip-off time and television information is set to be announced at a later date.

It's been a while since the two teams have met on the hardwood, with the latest meeting occurring on November 30, 2022. Indiana won that game by a score of 77-65 at Assembly Hall and hold a 10-6 all-time series advantage.

While the final score won't matter, the meeting between two of college basketball's most historic programs certainly will. As fans will be amped up for the start of the new season, they will have the opportunity to watch some preseason action between two programs that have accounted for 11 total national championships.

This year's contest is set to serve as a good preseason tuneup essentially two weeks ahead of the Tar Heels' season opener in Chapel Hill.
