When Major League Baseball announced the rosters for the 2025 MLB All-Star Game, some notable players were nowhere to be found.
If you follow the sport closely, some of the names that actually made the roster are quite baffling. How is it that the guy who has the third-most hits in all of baseball (Trea Turner) didn't earn a spot?!
The same could be said for former UNC baseball standout Michael Busch, a guy who is putting together an insane season for the Chicago Cubs.

Through 84 games, Busch is hitting .297 on the year. He has already clubbed 18 homers (just three short of his career-high) along with 56 RBIs, as he's been a key clog in the middle of the Cubs' everyday lineup.
His recent collection of performances should've pushed the needle a bit, considering he was named the National League Co-Player of the Week!
Over the previous week of action, the former Diamond Heel collected 13 hits in 23 at-bats. He recorded a three home run day on July 4, and followed it up by hitting a homer in his first at-bat a day later, as the baseball seems to look like a beach ball for him at this point.
Busch simply needed that chance to play everyday to show what he's capable of. Now, the 27-year-old is doing that and much more.
Of course, it's no knock against Freddie Freeman, Pete Alonso and Matt Olson, all of which made the National League All-Star squad. However, Michael Busch has had just as good (if not better) of a first half as those guys did, as it's simply disappointing that his efforts didn't earn the rightful recognition they deserve.
There's a chance Busch could earn a spot as a All-Star Game replacement, but it's a shame that the former Tar Heel isn't heading to Atlanta along with the best players that the sport has to offer.
