Matt Able is putting on a show at the NBA Draft Combine. He's doing exactly what he wanted to do when he first entered the NBA Draft: get some good insight from scouts and executives across the league before heading back to college for his sophomore season.

However, his production at the combine is making that decision much harder than he initially anticipated.

Once the NBA Draft Combine concludes, Able will have to make a very tough decision. Does he want to go back to college for another season, honoring his prior transfer commitment to North Carolina, or is he ready to take his talent to the pros?

Able has a tough decision on his hands, one that he isn't quite sure about just yet.

Matt Able is "back and forth" on his impending NBA Draft decision

After competing in his first scrimmage as part of the annual combine, Able spoke to the media about a variety of topics, most notably his upcoming decision that he has to make. At this point in time, Able, who played his freshman season at NC State, seems to not know which path he will ultimately take.

“It’s definitely a tough decision," Able said. I love UNC, I’m excited to get over there at some point … I’m still back and forth on it. I gotta think about it some more, get with my camp and figure it out.”

There are a few factors Able and his camp will consider. For starters, has he put himself into the mix to be a first-round pick in this year's draft class? If so, his people may encourage him to keep his name in the draft, noting that the opportunity is there to fulfill his dream of playing at the next level.

If his stock, which had him as an early to mid-second-rounder heading into this week, stays around the same, he might be better off returning to college, gaining another year of experience while boosting his draft stock to be considered as a sure-fire first-rounder in the 2027 class.

Heck, it's not even out of the question to think that he could be a lottery pick if all goes well during his potential time in Chapel Hill.

This is a major decision for both Able and the UNC basketball program. When the Tar Heels secured a commitment from him via the transfer portal, the plan was for him to make his way to campus, as the possibility of him staying in this year's draft class seemed like a long shot.

However, the circumstances have shifted a bit, as the path to staying in this draft class is a bit clearer than originally anticipated.

In case you're panicking, pump the brakes for just a bit. Able is posting on social media as if he still has every intention of honoring his commitment to UNC, as evident by his comments on former high school teammate's Kevin Thomas' post announcing his own pledge to the Tar Heels.

The opportunity to return to college, play at UNC (with guys he previously competed with) while also having the chance to work with a NBA championship level coach who can help him develop his game to where he is a lottery pick this time next year are all factors that still could very well lead him to Chapel Hill where he belongs.
