The UNC football program is preparing to undergo a radical transformation with the arrival of new head coach Bill Belichick. One weapon that will, in all likelihood, not be available to Coach Belichick is all-world running back Omarion Hampton. Couple that with the graduation of Darwin Barlow and transfer of Caleb Hood, there are snaps ready to be... snapped up!

That brings into focus Marshall's A.J. Turner. He's an explosive running back from famed Phoebus High School, a dominant program in the fertile Tidewater area of southeastern Virginia. Turner has two years of eligibility remaining and should be a hot commodity. His representatives at BZ Sports Management indicated that he would visit UNC soon.

Turner ran for 864 yards last season, averaging 8.3 yards per attempt, the best in the nation. He rushed for six touchdowns last season and caught two more. Turner's usage during three seasons with the Thundering Herd makes it seem like he would be a complimentary piece rather than a replacement to Davion Gause, who showed potential to take over the No. 1 spot from Hampton next season. He certainly has wheels:

Turner is just one of what will be many running backs that North Carolina kicks the tires on. Penn's Malachi Hosley has already been offered, and we'll let you know when others pop up on UNC's radar.
