Saying goodbye to Hubert Davis was difficult, but doing the same with Marcus Paige is equally as tough. In case you missed it, the Tar Heel great is packing his bags for Charlotte, as he's leaving Chapel Hill to join Wes Miller's new staff.

Bruce Pearl slamming UNC for firing Hubert Davis may be the worst take yet

Paige will always be beloved by Carolina fans, as he was a fantastic player and great coach. He was also a strong recruiter for the Heels, as he played a major role in the ACC powerhouse capturing the commitment of 5-star combo guard Dylan Mingo. So, with Davis and Paige on their way out, what does this mean for one of the top players in the country?

Marcus Paige leaving UNC could impact 5-star Dylan Mingo and his future

As soon as it was announced Davis was getting fired, plenty of worry arrived on Mingo's status. According to reporter Adam Zagoria's sources, it was 'too early to tell' on what the Davis call would mean for Mingo. Well, how about now?

Mingo and Paige built an incredibly close relationship and he no question had a big impact on the 2026 prospect picking the Tar Heels. If people were already worried before about whether or not the Tar Heels were going to be able to hang on to Mingo, those concerns have now reached another level.

Mingo, ranked five stars and the No. 2 combo guard in the country per the 247Sports composite, was down to North Carolina, Baylor, Penn State and Washington before announcing for the Heels. With his older brother playing for Penn State, might the door open up again for the two to play together for the Nittany Lions?

Baylor was a team that was making a serious push as well. For now, Mingo remains UNC-bound, but him making plays at the Smith Center isn't even close to a 100 percent lock right now. Things were on the rocks before and with Paige leaving too, it just complicates the situation overall. We'll have to keep a close eye on this moving forward, as everyone will be waiting to see what's on Mingo's mind right due to these changes.
