When it was revealed that Marcus Paige was leaving North Carolina to join Wes Miller's coaching staff at Charlotte, Tar Heel fans already knew it would be a significant loss.

Paige developed into an integral part of Hubert Davis' coaching staff. When Davis was fired, it was rumored that Paige would be seeking coaching opportunities elsewhere, looking to take that next step in his journey on the sidelines.

He found that new opportunity with another former Tar Heel, Wes Miller, who was named the head coach at Charlotte at the start of the offseason.

Now, Miller has worked with Paige for a few weeks, and is already impressed with what he brings to the table.

Wes Miller raves about his new assistant coach

On a recent appearance on the Highway 49 Podcast, Miller was asked about his new assistant coach, already providing raving reviews for the fellow former Tar Heel.

“I’ve been blown away by Marcus Paige. He was a terrific player, his jersey hangs in the rafters at UNC. He’s going to be a better coach than he was a player. That’s saying something.”

Miller, in his own words, has been "blown away by" Paige since they started working together, and believes that he has a very bright future ahead of him as a coach.

Let's face it: both Tar Heels learned from one of the absolute best to ever work in the business, Roy Williams, as the lessons Williams taught and the wisdom he provided certainly carries on with both men as they now follow in his footsteps in terms of coaching at the college level.

There's no doubt that if, by some chance, Williams was called upon to provide a job reference for Paige, that his testament of his former point guard was more than enough for Miller to realize that he would be a home run hire for his new staff at Charlotte.
