As we all already know, Luke Stevenson is HIM!
The UNC baseball program's backstop has been named a semifinalist for the 2025 Buster Posey Award, annually awarded to the nation's best catcher.
The Flemington, New Jersey native has showcased why many believe he will be a first round pick in this year's MLB Draft. A first-team All-ACC selection, Stevenson finished the regular season hitting .271. Through 51 games, Stevenson has already scored more runs (49), drew more walks (53) and hit more doubles (9) and home runs (16) than he did during his freshman season on campus.
With a deep postseason run to Omaha in mind, Stevenson could have a significant amount of at-bats in his future to help add to his already impressive offensive stat line.
While his ability to crush the baseball is an attribute that stands out the most, his skillset behind the plate doesn't get the recognition it deserves. Stevenson has handled the UNC baseball program's pitching staff, arguably one of the best in the country, as his presence behind the dish has been just as valuable as to when he steps up to the plate to swing the bat.
Luke Stevenson is one of the country's best catchers and should be regarded as a serious contender to take home this award this season. The Diamond Heels hope that Stevenson can continue his success throughout the upcoming postseason stretch, as his presence is a valuable asset to the UNC baseball program's everyday lineup.
