Luke Stevenson is no stranger to hitting the baseball out of the ball park.

In fact, the former UNC baseball star hit 33 home runs during his two seasons in Chapel Hill, including 19 during the 2025 campaign.

While the ability to hit for power is just one facet of his overall game, it is notable how he can crush the baseball at any given time. As he recently began his professional baseball career, it took some time to drive a baseball out of the yard, but the first (of hopefully many) home runs for Stevenson occurred on Wednesday night.

In the top of the eighth inning, Stevenson turned on an inside fastball, launching it over the right field wall. The three-run homer helped the Modesto Nuts, the Single-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, pull away for good.

Stevenson finished the night with two hits (one of which being the homer), two runs scored, three RBIs to go along with a walk. He now has a slash line of .274/.438/.419 in 18 games at the Single-A level.

The early results have been very good for Stevenson, as he's proven that he was worthy of being selected in the first round of the 2025 MLB Draft. His ability to get on base was one of the attributes that made him attractive to major league clubs, but his power was something that added a major element that the Mariners hope he can continue building upon.

You know, right now the big league club has a catcher who is doing insane things offensively. Who knows, maybe Stevenson will be the next Mariners backstop to absolutely mash while providing stability and good defense behind the dish.
