The story of Kayla McPherson's time with the UNC women's basketball program has unfortunately been impacted by injuries.

Since arriving in Chapel Hill for the 2021-2022 season, McPherson has played in just 20 games. In her limited action on the court, McPherson showed why the UNC women's basketball program needs her healthy as she can be a major contributor for this year's squad.

Leading up to her redshirt junior season, what can we expect from Kayla McPherson?

2023-2024 Season In Review

McPherson played in seven games as a redshirt sophomore, making three starts. On January 6, it was announced that, due to knee surgery, McPherson would miss the remainder of the 2023-2024 season.

A spark of energy, McPherson provided a boost every time she was on the court.

What to Expect in 2024-2025

It's hard to really say what to expect for Kayla McPherson, given her history of injuries.

I think that all fans of the UNC women's basketball program are simply hoping that she can stay healthy throughout the season as she continues to work tremendously hard toward staying healthy.

If she's able to stay healthy, McPherson can definitely be a solid contributor in the Tar Heels backcourt rotation. She likely wouldn't have to log starters minutes, but she could easily make a tremendous impact if she can average anywhere from 10-15 minutes per-game.

Bold Prediction

This is going to be the year that we see Kayla McPherson healthy and active throughout the season.

While this may not fall under the "bold prediction" category, it's something that we all are wishing for. After last season, the UNC women's basketball program deserves a better slate of health, as McPherson is certainly at the top of that list.
