When he was the head coach of the New England Patriots, Bill Belichick was known for his tough coaching and talk of never being distracted, both on and off the field. Now at UNC, it seems like Belichick should take his own advice when it comes to his relationship with girlfriend Jordan Hudson, and one of his most famous former players agrees.

Former star Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman spoke to People in an interview about his former coach, and when asked about what his thoughts are on Hudson being a "distraction" for Belichick, he threw some of Belichick's words right back at the future Hall of Fame coach.

"Everyone has their life outside of the sport," Edelman said in his interview. "What he always told me is that we had to eliminate distractions. So, I don't know. You could take what you want with that."

It is tough to be an athlete or coach at the highest level when there are a lot of distractions around. That is something that kids who do sports learn at a young age: being distracted during a game or practice is not good, and it won't help you get very far.

For Belichick, even being one of the greatest coaches to ever do it in the NFL doesn't mean those same thoughts apply to you. Even his former players are a little surprised that he is allowing so many distractions with his girlfriend, Hudson.

"I remember getting yelled at for being a distraction, so I think we're all in the business of eliminating distractions," Edelman said. "That's just from what I learned from him."

Belichick has allowed a lot of distraction this season all stemming from Jordan Hudson

Ever since taking the job at UNC, it seems Belichick and his relationship have been at the forefront of everything, which isn't exactly what everyone wants. No one wants to see how she is wanted to see emails sent to her boyfriend, or visiting him on the field, before or during games.

UNC just wants the focus to be on the field and even Edelman feels Belichick is letting his focus slip.
