The unnecessary pettiness toward the New England Patriots continues from Bill Belichick.

According to John Middlekauff, Belichick has banned all Patriots scouts from the University of North Carolina.

Here's what Middlekauff had to say regarding the matter:

"Well, Belichick hasn't been very accommodating, and I was told by multiple people that he has banned the New England Patriots. If you're a scout for the New England Patriots, you are not allowed at the University of North Carolina, which is funny, but also kind of embarrassing because Bill Belichick, for multiple decades, my guess is made over $200 million working for Robert Craft.

He became an absolute NFL legend, winning Super Bowls, going to Super Bowls, and just kicking the s**t outta everybody with Tom Brady, and then it got ugly and he lost and he got fired. You know what that's called? Football. Tom Landry got fired. Andy Reed got fired."

This decision is a horrible one for the UNC football program.

For starters, the program has done tremendously well on the recruiting trail over the past few months. Recruits obviously want to play for one of the greatest coaches of all time, especially knowing that the NFL connections that Belichick has can't be matched.

Why would you limit one NFL team from being on campus? Isn't the goal to provide recruits with as much NFL exposure as possible? Don't you think it will send mixed signals to other teams who may be interested in your players, ultimately leading them to look elsewhere given this issue?

This pettiness has to stop. Maybe Belichick has been hanging around with his 24-year-old girlfriend too much, getting himself wrapped up in unneeded drama.

At 73-years-old, it's time to let it go.

The focus now should be on developing the student-athletes at the University of North Carolina, utilizing the resources available to help them succeed in life after college. In terms of the football aspect, the UNC football program needs to rethink this horrible decision, as it is definitely not a good look for the university or the program as a whole.

Can we please grow up and stop adding drama to this continuously brewing circus?
