Bill Belichick generates interest essentially anywhere he goes.
When you have six Super Bowl rings and are considered to be one of (if not the) greatest coach to ever live, you just have that aura around you.
Since taking over as the UNC football program's head coach, the media spotlight has been heavily focused on what's going on in Chapel Hill. From Belichick (and the Tar Heels staff) working to build a roster for this year to the drama that surrounds his personal love life, there's a lot of noise that's been buzzing in Blue Heaven.
While the media (and fans) make it seem like all of this noise is distracting, the players don't see it that way. Jordan Shipp, one of a handful of returners from last year's squad, was asked about the added attention during the ACC Kickoff event, providing the perfect answer to sum up how he (and his teammates) are approaching this season.
"I feel like there's a lot of noise going around. When you get the greatest coach of all time, there's gonna be a lot of buzz going on. But that's not really what we're worried about. We're worried about just getting better every day and staying where our feet are and really growing together as a team. I feel like it's great for the hype. It's great for the program, of course, but we're focused on winning games and whoever's there is there."
There's no doubt that attention (whether good or bad) will follow Belichick during this new era of Carolina Football. While there will be plenty of doubts about whether the noise will get to the players, Shipp doesn't seem to be concerned, as he, and and his teammates, know what they need to do in order to be successful this upcoming season.
