Ah, Jon Rothstein.
The CBS Sports college basketball analyst found a way to disrespect North Carolina while providing them with a back-handed compliment in the process.
Jon Rothstein has a weird definition of "Blue Blood"
Duke and UConn are the only programs in college basketball that are still operating at a "Blue Blood" level.https://t.co/c9JLel3odd (Apple) https://t.co/EsZxIkcHSA (Spotify)https://t.co/Ip7nntmkSx (YouTube) pic.twitter.com/SZCHZXLUbL

Rothstein belives that there are only two programs in college basketball who are operating at "Blue Blood" level. We'll let the transcript below tell you which programs he thinks those are.
"There are two programs in college basketball that are still operating as traditional blue bloods. It's UConn and Duke, it's Duke and UConn, and that is reiterated when you really dissect the rosters of the other blue blood programs in college basketball. So I wanna take a close look right now at three of them, Kansas, Kentucky, and North Carolina.
As of today, in the Rothstein 45, which I update every single day based on if there's any roster changes in college basketball, Kentucky's ranked 40th, Kansas is ranked 30th, and North Carolina's ranked 26th. Of those three rosters right now, Carolina has the best roster."
Basically, Rothstein claims that UConn and Duke are the current "Blue Bloods" while he claims that the trio of Kentucky, Kansas and North Carolina have basically fallen a tier behind.
The good news for Tar Heels fans (if you even count it as "good") is that Rothstein believes North Carolina features the best roster of the three programs he classified in that tier.
UConn has every right to be considered a "Blue Blood." When you win at the level they have, you don't even need to explain why they are included in that elite tier, and they should stay there given the recent track record of success that Dan Hurley and company have put together.
As for Duke, sure, they spend money like a "Blue Blood," but doesn't winning mean anything?
The Blue Devils haven't won a national title in over a decade! Both North Carolina and Kansas have won titles in that span of time, and they even met up in the national title game back in 2022.
Sure, winning regular season titles and having one-and-done freshmen claim national awards is cool, but at what point do we take Duke off this pedestal that people have them on, given they haven't lived up to expectations either?
