"We need to cherish this game. Who knows how much longer we might have this game?"

On ESPN College GameDay, current analyst and former Blue Devil star Jay Williams mentioned the future of the rivalry between Duke and North Carolina.

Based on what he had to say, Williams seems to believe that North Carolina could be heading to the Big Ten Conference.

Of course, Williams didn't have any definitive answers regarding this topic, but he kept reiterating how important it is for everyone to cherish this game due to the uncertainty surrounding conference realignments. If the Tar Heels are heading to another conference, the UNC basketball program would no longer play Duke twice a year, and quite frankly might not see their rivals from down the road unless a non-conference agreement is constructed to ensure the two teams play at least once every season.

Nonetheless, all we now is the present, as both heated rivals are still very much ACC foes. While Williams may be onto something, there's nothing happening immediately on this end, so let's all just enjoy the big game and hope that the UNC basketball program once again makes the trip to Durham and returns home with a victory.
