Last offseason, Javonte Williams was searching for a fresh start.
After injuries derailed his time with the Denver Broncos, Williams hit the free agent market with a lot to prove. He found a new home with the Dallas Cowboys, signing a one-year deal that essentially a "prove it" type of deal.
Well, both Williams and the Cowboys are thrilled with the outcome, as they agreed to continue the pairing moving forward.
Javonte Williams signs a three-year contract extension
Before he could hit the free agent market, the Cowboys made sure to find a way to retain him before other suitors could factor in. Williams agreed to a three-year deal, worth up to $24 million over the span of the contract. The former Tar Heel will be guaranteed $16 million with his new deal.

What a season it was for Williams
When healthy, Javonte Williams is a force to be reckowned with.
Tar Heel fans can certainly attest to that!
Williams surpassed the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the first time in his NFL career, finishing the season with 1,201 total rushing yards. That's the most that a Cowboys running back has recorded since Ezekiel Elliot's 1,357-yard season in 2019.
The Cowboys have had trouble finding a steady presence in their backfield since Elliot was one of the top running backs in the league during his time in Dallas. After witnessing what Williams did this past season, the franchise was wise to find a way to keep him in town, as his first season as a Cowboy told them all they needed to know about him.
Javonte Williams is worth betting on, and the Cowboys found a way to reward him for his outstanding season in 2025. Now, they hope that he can continue that elite level production at least for the next three seasons.
