The UNC basketball program is off to a very strong start, securing a 8-1 record through the first 9 games of the 2025-2026 season.
While the Tar Heels, who have been playing without senior captain Seth Trimble, have been stacking victories, Hubert Davis is not yet satisfied.
What is Hubert Davis waiting for from his team?
The head coach of the Tar Heels knows his team can be even better.
Following the victory over Georgetown on Sunday night, Davis elaborated on what he's waiting for from this year's squad. Tar Heel fans would certainly agree that they are waiting for this to happen as well.
āIām looking forward to the day where we dominate points in the paint and are hot from three-point range.ā
We've seen the dynamic duo of Caleb Wilson and Henri Veesaar take over games in the post. In fact, this has been mainly the recipe for success for this year's team, bringing us all back to the vintage days of the UNC basketball program.
The three-point shooting has had some key moments, but for the most part, we haven't seen this team clicking on both ends at the same time.
Imagine when that day comes around?!
It's only a matter of time
Sure, we're about a quarter of the way through the 2025-2026 season, but let's remember: this is still a team that doesn't have much experience together yet.
When Seth Trimble returns, the hope is that the Tar Heels will be able to stay healthy, seeing what this full squad can do. At this point, we can firmly state that the talent is certainly there, and it seems to be only a matter of time before we see this group come out and absolutely dominate in both areas that Hubert Davis spoke about.
While we all hope they save those elite performances for key games (such as Duke), the hope is that we will see these types of all-around performances from this group on multiple occasions as we head into the new year.
