This is pretty darn fun, isn't it? The UNC basketball team is 2-0 to start the season and there have been plenty of highlights thus far. We hope you're not too tired of reading about Caleb Wilson, as the 5-star freshman has been downright sensational early on in his college career.
Caleb Wilson shares exactly how he got his Darryn Peterson revenge with UNC win
On Friday night in primetime, Wilson sent a statement to the rest of the country that he's easily one of the top freshmen in the country. Hey, he might be one of the best players out there overall once the year comes to an end.
Before we get too ahead of ourselves, however, let's not hype him up too much. With that said, there's no question that Wilson is making a monster impact on the UNC community as a whole, which head man Hubert Davis made quite clear following the win over No. 19 Kansas.

Hubert Davis said Caleb Wilson was out on campus earlier in the day on Friday encouraging students to come to the game.

Hubert Davis has been blown away with the impact Caleb Wilson is making
It's hard to argue with what Davis had to say there. This wasn't a case of Wilson just going out on his own and demanding that UNC do a white out because he wanted it. Instead, he pitched the idea, got a ton of support and the Tar Heels faithful took care of the rest.
While there was some confusion on Friday due to free shirts set to be handed out, the call was made to push that promotional event back and a white out took over the Dean Dome. It made the atmosphere even more electric, as the Heels responded to that energy and took down Bill Self and the Jayhawks.
In that victory, Wilson finished with a game-high 24 points, while adding seven rebounds. That showing came after he scored 22 points in his college debut against Central Arkansas. Early on, Wilson is very much playing like a highly-ranked prospect and fans are loving his passion for the jersey over his back.
There's a long season ahead and there are of course going to be some ups and downs for Wilson. However, he's passing the eye test early on in 2025-26 and people can't wait to see what he has in store for UNC's next game. As for Davis, he's appreciating what Wilson is doing thus far and the fact that the youngster is doing so with such a humble mentality makes things better.
