Hubert Davis met with the media on Tuesday to discuss the upcoming season for the UNC basketball program.
Right out of the gate, Davis was asked about international transfer Luka Bogavac, a guy who has a lot of hype surrounding him as he embarks on his first season of college basketball. Bogavac comes with plenty of experience but has to catch up a bit in terms of gelling with his new team, considering he only arrived in Chapel Hill a few weeks ago.
Davis raved about Bogavac, talking about what he brings on and off the court for North Carolina:
"He’s been great getting to know and also coaching him. He’s been fantastic in the classroom and also on the court. As a player, he’s somebody who can do a number of different things on both ends of the floor. He’s got great size, can handle it, and make plays with the ball in his hand. Can shoot, score on many different levels, mid-range, get to the bucket, excellent passer, and somebody who had a burning desire to be here and to be a part of this program. And as soon as he walks into a room, it just brightens up. He just has that type of personality I’ve really enjoyed being around.”
Bogavac has the reputation of being a fantastic basketball player but has also impressed the Tar Heels head coach essentially in every aspect, noting how he's been excelling in the classroom while being a bright spot in terms of personality in the locker room. On a team that features a whole-new look, having individuals like Bogavac who have experience and leadership qualities makes his addition even more important for the UNC basketball program, a group that has aspirations of making a deep run in the NCAA Tournament come March.
While that is still a ways off, Bogavac is making a strong first impression during his early time with the UNC basketball program.
