The Tar Heels have started the season on a three-game winning streak, with each win coming by more than a 10-point advantage for UNC. However, North Carolina head coach Hubert Davis is far from satisfied, despite the unblemished record.
Most recently, the Tar Heels defeated the Radford Highlanders by 15 points, moving themselves to 3-0 on the year. Yet, Davis wanted more from his players, especially early on in their games.
"I always say is I don’t know when, where, how, and the manner in which you’re going to get an opportunity, but when it happens, your job and responsibility is to be ready when your number is called," Davis said after the win.
UNC's slow start have Hubert Davis unsettled
Of course, the Tar Heels were coming off a dominant win over the then-No. 19 Kansas Jayhawks, so it came as slightly unsurprising that they were a little sluggish in the first half against Radford, despite the Highlanders being far from a powerhouse program.
"Coming off of [the Kansas win], and that when you have success, those are the times that you have to dive even deeper to the discipline and details that have allowed you to be successful," Davis said. "To be out of rhythm, to have different lineups, and to figure out a way to come away with a win, that’s something."
"I felt like we struggled at the beginning of the game, but I don't think it was just not having Seth in the lineup."

Now, don't get it twisted, Davis is happy that his team is undefeated and has had double-digit victories over every opponent. However, he knows that his team is capable of even more.
Currently ranked 18th in the country, North Carolina is primed to be one of the top teams in the ACC, especially with Davis's most recent class of recruits.
The Tar Heels landed the No. 5 recruiting class of 2025, highlighted by five-star power forward Caleb Wilson, who was the No. 8 prospect in the recruiting cycle. Davis also brought in five blue-chip athletes from the transfer portal, adding the necessary experience to a relatively young roster.
So, with so much high-caliber talent, it shouldn't come as a shock that Davis wants his team to be one of the best in the country. In other words, he wants to beat teams like Radford by more than just 15 points.
Next, the Tar Heels are set to host the North Carolina Central Eagles on Friday, Nov. 14, with tip-off scheduled for 9 p.m. ET. The game will be available on the ACC Network.
