It goes without saying that the UNC basketball program battled on Friday night.

Down by as much as 20 to the No. 1-ranked team in the country while playing in one of the toughest environments in college basketball, the Tar Heels stormed back to not only tie the game but to take the lead for a bit as well.

Unfortunately, as encouraging as the comeback was, the Tar Heels ended up on the losing side of the ball game.

Following the game, Hubert Davis had one simple message for his team:

""I hope this gives you a clear picture of how good we can be."

There's been plenty of talk about how this year's team is different than year's past. Without a star big man, the Tar Heels are certainly playing differently than we've seen in recent memory.

Even with the questions surrounding the front court, this team proved that they have the ability to compete with anyone.

Trailing by as much as they were in that type of environment, this team could've easily folded. However, they didn't, making a comeback that had everyone talking about it.

Sure, the Tar Heels aren't there just yet. Let's remember: we're only in week one of the regular season! The good news is: they aren't far off. Unfortunately, they weren't the better team on Friday night, but if we can take one thing away from this game, this group has a lot of potential and have the drive to ultimately live up to it.
