It was not only a proud coach moment, but a proud dad moment for the UNC basketball program's head coach.

In most cases, a three-pointer near the end of a blowout victory might not mean much.

On Monday night, the one that Elijah Davis connected on had monumental value to it for Hubert Davis.

The head coach of the UNC basketball program, and the proud father of Elijah, had a courtside view of his son's first-ever made basket as a Tar Heel, a memory that will last a lifetime for the entire Davis family.

The legacy continues

Walter Davis put together an illustrious career at North Carolina, and Hubert Davis followed with a pretty impressive career in Chapel Hill of his own.

While Elijah isn't racking up points like his great-uncle and father did during their UNC basketball careers, he now follows the family legacy by scoring a basket as a Tar Heel.

A proud dad moment

Hubert Davis is an emotional man to begin with. This moment that he got to witness was one that got that emotion out of him in the post-game conference, as his heartfelt response to being asked about the bucket shows how proud he is of him as a coach, but how he's even prouder as his father.

“I’m the head coach, so I try to be ‘head coach,’ not ‘Dad.’ It was a really awesome, cool moment," Davis said. I heard his little brother took off his shirt and started waving it when Elijah hit the three. Mom was really happy. Younger sister was really happy. "

While the Davis family was thrilled beyond belief at this incredible moment, Elijah's teammates were just as pumped for his success. In fact, the Tar Heels' head coach told a quick story that goes to show the chemistry that this team has already built.

"Somebody else told me that Henri (Veesaar) wouldn’t come speak to you guys unless Elijah could come," Davis added. "It just speaks to the chemistry of this team, and for them to adopt him as their teammate, and not the head coach’s son, has been something that I can’t put into words, and how special it’s been."

Hubert Davis has seen plenty of big-time shots go in the basket during his tenure as the UNC basketball program's head coach. While there are going to be those shots that he'll look back on and remember quite fondly, the one that his son, Elijah Davis, scored will be one that stands alone on the list.

That shot won't be viewed by Hubert Davis the head coach, but will be remembered by Hubert Davis the father.
