Remember all of that hot seat talk that was surrounding Hubert Davis? Yeah, that was all for nothing, as the North Carolina basketball coach isn't going anywhere. From our chair, that's a great thing, as the inconsistent campaign for the Tar Heels doesn't wipe away what Davis has accomplished thus far.
Some of Davis' biggest doubters have been silenced thanks to the hot streak for this team of late. Don't forget that Davis has also showcased that he is an elite recruiter, landing several top targets for the Heels in recent years.
Will he add to the list soon in the form of a 2027 playmaker? Earlier this month, the Tar Heels and Davis extended an offer to 5-star power forward CJ Rosser. He's one of the top players in the country for his class and he already holds double-digit offers despite being a high school sophomore. With that said, Davis and Co. must go all-in to land this kid.
It was announced this weekend that 2027 CJ Rosser had earned an offer from North Carolina #PhenomHoops @Coach_Rick57 @colbylewis20 @POBScout @JeffreyBendel_ @Phenom_Hoops @ty1ewis @CoachChrisNC https://t.co/EYq4VpJxZX pic.twitter.com/lVldcXgQ8f

Hubert Davis and UNC must go all-in to land 5-star PF CJ Rosser
With Rosser being a '27 prospect, there's loads of time for him to make his decision. However, the fact that Davis and Co. got in on him early is huge. Rosser is ranked five stars, the No. 1 PF in the country and No. 3 prospect nationally per the 247Sports Composite.
He holds early offers from UNC, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Michigan and others. Oh, and he's a standout for Northern Nash High in Rocky Mount, which is about 90 miles from Chapel Hill. Having the ability for his family to watch him play consistently is something Davis can no question sell Rosser on.
We're looking at an in-state recruit who has college standout written all over him. With Rosser being so close to UNC's campus, getting him in town for a visit soon should be a priority for Davis. The sooner the red carpet is rolled out for this kid, the better. Again, there's plenty of time for Rosser to make his decision, but keeping a 5-star, North Carolina product home would be massive for the program.
