There's no doubt in Henri Veesaar's mind as to what his plans are for next season.

While testing the NBA Draft waters, Veesaar made it very, very clear that he has no desire to return to college for his senior season.

Henri Veesaar makes his future plans well-known

As no surprise, Veesaar was adamant about his future, letting everyone know that he firmly believes taking his talents to the NBA is the best thing he can do at this point in his career. He spoke about his reasoning, which is based solely on his overall development as a player.

“I feel like it's just the right thing to do, basketball-wise. Going to the NBA, it's gonna help me develop more, get better basketball quicker, better than staying in college.”

Of course, you could make the case that Veesaar would benefit both in terms of his development and financially by returning to North Carolina for another season. With Michael Malone, a proven NBA champion, at the helm now in Chapel Hill, many thought that would be enough to draw Veesaar back to campus, given how Malone helped develop arguably the best big man in the NBA currently, Nikola Jokic.

However, Veesaar might just be ready to take that next step, knowing what his value is and being content with what he's being told from NBA executives about where he might end up being selected in this draft class.

If he ends up being a first-round pick, the move makes sense for him. However, if for some reason he slides into the second round, it might be a major storyline, given that he passed up on guaranteed money to potentially be a two-way player at the NBA level.

Based on how he's speaking about the situation and what we know, it's possible that an NBA team gave him a promise that was too good to pass up. You can't fault him for taking a chance on himself at the next level, as he feels more than ready to take on the challenges of competing at the professional level.

Unfortunately, for those hoping there was at least a slight chance that Veesaar might consider returning to Chapel Hill, you can officially close the door on that one.
