Gio Lopez doesn't appear on North Carolina's ACC Availability Report

This is a good indication that the junior quarterback will be back on Friday night.

The UNC football program is heading to California for a West Coast ACC clash (which sounds very weird to say), and the question at the quarterback position has still been up-in-the-air following the team's second bye week.

As kickoff inches closer, we're starting to get a clearer picture of who just might be under center for the Tar Heels.

First, the UNC football program revealed an unofficial depth chart, one that had Gio Lopez listed as QB1. To add to that, Lopez, who has been injured, did not appear on the first ACC Availability Report that was released on Wednesday night, another indication that the Tar Heels' starting quarterback will be good to go for this week's game.

Here's the full availability report for North Carolina:

OUT
DB Ty White
DB Thad Dixon
DB Peyton Waters
LB Chinedu Onyeagoro
LB Tyler Houser
LB Jake Bauer
OL Peter Pesansky
DL Laderion Williams
DL Kamarion Thomas
TE Cort Halsey
TE Deems May
K Guytano Bartolomeo

PROBABLE
DB Ty Adams
DB Khalil Conley
OL Aidan Banfield

At this point, expect to see Lopez serving as the UNC football program's starting quarterback once again. This news also adds some context to how the program views the QB1 spot, as it appears to be Lopez's job as long as he's healthy.

North Carolina is hoping that Lopez and the offense can figure it out and improve as we get deeper into ACC play. The health of the South Alabama transfer has been an issue early on in his UNC football tenure, as the hope is that a clean bill of health is in the cards for him moving forward.

Although you could make the case that Max Johnson has been the better of the two (which, is not saying much considering how poor the offensive unit has been), the UNC football program hasn't wavered from its commitment to Lopez, as it looks like he'll be back on the field come Friday night against California.
