Bill Belichick and the UNC football program conclude non-conference action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Orlando, Florida to take on Scott Frost and the UCF Knights.
The Knights come into this game with a 2-0 record while coming off a "bye week." The return of Frost to campus has yielded some positive early results, but the true test will be when his team faces Power Five competition the rest of the regular season.
Ahead of Saturday afternoon's contest, here's what you need to know about the UCF Knights.
2025 Season
Record: 2-0
Conference: 0-0
Home: 2-0
Away: 0-0
Neutral: 0-0
Last Week: Following a decisive 68-7 victory over North Carolina A&T on September 6, UCF had a "bye week" last weekend.
Key Players
Jaden Nixon- Senior Running back
Through two games, Nixon has carried the ball six times.
Those six carries resulted in 150 yards and two touchdowns.
While UCF hasn't played a Power Five program yet, what Nixon has been able to do with a small sample size is still impressive. For a team that wants to run the football, the hope is that Nixon can continue making explosive plays, something that North Carolina will look to limit on Saturday afternoon.
Myles Montgomery- Redshirt Senior
Montgomery has been a workhorse in the backfield for UCF through two games. His 29 carries are at least 19 more than the next closest player on the list, as Scott Frost has no problem getting the ball in No. 22's hands.
He isn't only utilized in the run game, but is also a capable receiver out of the backfield. In fact, he's made some explosive plays in the passing game, averaging 25.8 yards per reception.
Safe to say: North Carolina will need to keep a close on him early and often in this one.
Area of Strength
Similar to the UNC football program, UCF is strongest via the running game.
Through two games, the Knights have run for 525 yards and seven scores, having three players with 100 or more rushing yards to their name.
With the quarterback position still in question in Orlando, Florida, Scott Frost and the Knights will likely continue to heavily rely on the running game, especially if their talented depth chart continues to produce at this type of level.
Area of Weakness
Run Defense.
While North Carolina A&T only scored 7 points against UCF two weeks back, they still found a way to run for 160 yards on the ground.
With North Carolina's struggles at the quarterback position, the Tar Heels need to exploit this weakness, getting Demon June involved early and often.
