The University of North Carolina provided the following statement regarding the situation:
“We are aware of the incident involving UNC football student-athletes Tuesday night in Chapel Hill. We are cooperating fully with the University and local officials, and will have no further comment while gathering additional information.”

On Wednesday night, Inside Carolina reported that four members of the UNC football program were involved in a traffic stop that resulted in one arrest.
Based on the information retrieved by Spencer Haskell of Inside Carolina from the police reports, here's what we know about the situation.
UNC Football players involved in a traffic stop in Chapel Hill
The traffic stopped occurred at 1050 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Chapel Hill at approximately 9:30 PM EST. C.J. Sadler's 2024 Cadillac Escalade V was the vehicle pulled over, as the car was reported about an hour prior as a "careless and reckless driver."
Sadler, one of four Tar Heels in the vehicle at the time of the stop, was charged with driving 60 mph in a 35 mph zone. Fellow freshman wide receiver Keeyun Chapman was arrested on a misdemeanor gun charge count of carrying a concealed weapon (handgun). The other two players in the car have not been confirmed at this time.
The police report also notes that 15.1 grams of marijuana was seized during the traffic stop, and also indicates that this is Sadler's third speeding citation since the beginning of August 2026.
Chapman, one of UNC's top-ranked recruits in this year's class, has not seen the field through two games so far this season.
At this time, North Carolina has not announced whether Sadler or Chapman will face any disciplinary action stemming from the incident and has not commented on the situation.
