Earlier this week, four-star EDGE Chinedu Onyeagoro decommitted from SMU. The Los Angeles, California native wasted no time finding a new home, announcing his commitment to Bill Belichick and the UNC football program on Friday.

This is a big addition for the UNC football program. While it's no secret that the Tar Heels have been active in the transfer portal, Belichick and his staff have also been on the recruiting trail in hopes of bringing in some of the top available talent.

Onyeagoro certainly fits that bill.

""Onyeagoro is an intriguing player who has only been playing football for two years. Originally a basketball player, Onyeagoro had a breakout sophomore season with 19 sacks and added 21 more as a junior. He’s pushing 6-3, 225 pounds and has a lot of length to him and huge hands. He mostly plays out of a two-point stance as an edge rusher but will occasionally drop and cover. Rushing the quarterback is definitely what he does best and he flashes a quick first step and the ability to dip and turn the corner. He’s a tough kid and a physical player who embraces contact. He shows off a motor and routinely chases plays down from behind. Frame wise, it will be interesting to see where his body is at in a few years and that will likely determine where he lines up. He’s young for his grade and if he continues to grow and fill out, he’s an ideal edge rusher in a 3-4 or a 4-3. Otherwise, he’ll need to develop more of a linebacker skill set to play in space and drop in coverage.""

Ranked as the No. 27 overall EDGE in his class (according to 247Sports), Onyeagoro is still rather raw in terms of football experience. After starting playing football during his sophomore year of high school, he quickly rose up the ranks to be considered one of the top high school talents in the Class of 2025.

The scary thing is: Onyeagoro likely hasn't reached his ceiling, as we'll wait to see what the UNC football program's coaching staff can do to take his game to another level during his time on campus.
