Fact-checking goes a long way in determining what to say on national television!

In the world of journalism and broadcasting, it's rather important to get your facts straight.

Sure, people go on live television and spew random stuff to get attention, as is the case with former NC State guard Terry Gannon.

While on the call for NBC’s coverage of the Ryder Cup, Gannon tried to take a jab at the "G.O.A.T." Michael Jordan. Even though he got a chuckle out of it, he doesn't even realize that he just embarrassed himself on national television.

Here's what Gannon claimed about Jordan:

Gannon claims that Jordan "struggled" against NC State during his time with the UNC basketball program. Sure, Jordan had two games against the Wolfpack in which he didn't score more than 10 points, but to say he struggled against them is a major stretch.

Don't worry- Grant Hughes made sure to educate the NC State beat writers who got a kick out of it who obviously didn't do any research of their own:

Based on the numbers above, how could you say that Jordan struggled against the Wolfpack?

Silly Terry Gannon.

Instead of trying to take weird, random jabs at Jordan and North Carolina during a Ryder Cup event, one that has nothing to do with college basketball, how about you do some more research and educate the listeners about the action that's occurring on the golf course.

Yes, wherever Michael Jordan goes, it's a big deal. For people like Gannon, fall back and recognize greatness right in front of you, and simply do your job.

If you're watching the Ryder Cup and have Terry Gannon as your commentator, we suggest just muting the stream for your own sanity.
