Former UNC football standout Mack Hollins continues to make an impact far beyond Sundays.

The current New England Patriots wide receiver has been named the NFLPA’s Week 4 Community MVP after hosting a Special Olympics Family Field Day for 125 athletes and their families.

Mack Hollins continues to make an impact well beyond the football field

Hollins, a Special Olympics ambassador, fully funded the event and helped put together an afternoon designed to bring athletes and their families together. The event featured various sports stations, along with food, a photo booth, and other activities for attendees.

While Hollins has built a long NFL career since leaving Chapel Hill, his work with the Special Olympics has become another important part of his platform.

His latest event earned him some well-deserved recognition from his peers.

As part of Hollins's selection as the NFLPA Community MVP, the NFL Players Association will donate $10,000 to his Find the Feet Foundation. The organization creates opportunities and experiences for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities while promoting inclusion through sports and other activities.

Hollins has remained committed to giving back throughout his professional career, and his involvement with Special Olympics goes beyond simply attaching his name to the organization. By personally funding and hosting the Family Field Day, the former Tar Heel directly provided an experience for more than 100 athletes and their families.

It's another accomplishment to add to what has already been quite the journey for the former UNC wide receiver.

Hollins played for North Carolina from 2013-2016, developing from a walk-on into one of the program's top receiving threats. He finished his college career with 81 receptions for 1,667 yards and 20 touchdowns, and the Philadelphia Eagles selected him in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Since then, Hollins has found a way to stick around in the NFL, spending time with several organizations and building a reputation as a player willing to contribute however he can.

Now nearly a decade removed from his final season in Chapel Hill, Hollins continues to give Tar Heel fans another reason to root for him. This time, though, what Hollins accomplished off the field is much bigger than anything that could show up in a box score.
