Tyler Nickel kept receipts.
Nickel, who spent the 2022-2023 season at North Carolina, is now in his second season at Vanderbilt. Before heading to Vandy, Nickel spent a season at Virginia Tech, making it three stops in four years for the former Tar Heel.
Before Nickel and the Commodores squared off against Kentucky, another former Tar Heel, national champion Justin Jackson, provided some fuel for fire for Nickel.
Justin Jackson's take on Kentucky's potential to beat Vanderbilt
On The Field of 68 Podcast, Jackson made a strong statement, believing that Kentucky had the potential to beat up on the No. 18-ranked team in the land.
Here's what Jackson had to say:
"Kentucky's physicality can make a big impact on this game... I honestly think they can go in there and whoop up on Vandy."
Well, that take unfortunately didn't age well.
Yikes...
Led by Nickel's 19 points, Vanderbilt "whooped up" on Kentucky, defeating them by a score of 80-55.
Don't worry- Nickel had NO problem respond to Justin Jackson's comment's on social media.

Now, if you don't know what "FOH" means, it's an abbreviation for the popular saying "F**k Outta Here." At least Nickel used the abbreviation and didn't write the whole sentence out!
But wait, there's more!
Vanderbilt's social media team also had some fun with the clip from The Field of 68, adding their own two cents on what Jackson had to say.
Whooped up on ‘em alright ⚓️⬇️ https://t.co/3JfKIilBn6

Of course, being in the media spotlight is not an easy task, especially when one of your takes ends up being a very bad one. Jackson definitely had no ill intent when he discussed the matchup, putting some optimism in favor of Kentucky, but it definitely provided some additional fuel for Tyler Nickel and Vanderbilt, giving them more motivation to "whoop up" on the Wildcats.
Honestly, Nickel and the Commodores should be thanking Justin Jackson for the extra motivation!
