There weren't many bright spots for the UNC football program in their loss in the Fenway Bowl to UConn.

However, some younger players stood out, one of them being linebacker Caleb LaVallee.

Making his first career start, LaVallee led the Tar Heels with 9 total tackles. While the hope was that LaVallee would stick around Chapel Hill for the start of the Bill Belichick era, the Mableton, Georgia native hit the transfer portal rather quickly, finding a new home in a short amount of time.

As expected, LaVallee has committed to Florida State. This was the projected move following his visit to Tallahassee on Wednesday.

While it would've been nice to have him stick around, the Tar Heels have options to work with at the linebacker position. Amare Campbell is set to return while Khmori House has been brought in as a transfer from Washington.

Let's also remember: the Tar Heels are likely not done with regard to recruiting the transfer portal, so more reinforcements could potentially be on the way for this positional group.
